1a. Initial Ideas (5% of total course grade): To help ensure that your idea is able to be researched and to keep you focused, you briefly describe a problem or issue that you wish to explore. This should be a practical and realistic topic that could conceivably be the focus of a study that would be undertaken as part of your role in tourism/hospitality/hotel management. Total length not to exceed 1 page; a template will be provided.
1b: Background and Rationale Draft (15% of total course grade): Here, you will provide a description of the topic and problem and state why its important and relevant to tourism and hospitality. Drawing on a variety of academic sources and using proper referencing, you’ll provide an overview of what is currently known about the topic. Total length should be approximately 1000 words, not including references; an outline will be provided.
