Leah is a 26 year-old Caucasian female who is currently enrolled in a master’s degree program to become a social worker. She is passionate about her career choice and feels confident about her future. She comes from a wealthy background and has financial support from her family to pursue "whatever necessary" to make her dreams come true. She seeks your help as a career consultant in the hopes of getting your advice, opinions, and learning new options for her journey to social work.
Your essay should address the following questions, but please feel free to go beyond these questions as you see necessary.
1. Consultation. Using the Capuzzi and Stauffer (2019) text, discuss some of the consultation options you might be able to provide for Leah. What are the potential benefits of consultation for her? Risks or limitations? Ethical considerations? Include specific details and examples.
2. Cultural factors. Using the text, other references, and your own personal experience, discuss some of the cultural factors involved in this case. How would you ensure sensitivity to cultural considerations while helping Leah pursue her career dreams?
3. Literature review. Using three peer-reviewed articles (they can be used in the previous section as well), discuss your findings related to consultation (or coaching or supervision) in vocational counseling.
