RESPONSE TWO;

  1. I selected the Boy and Girls Club of America because their mission is to provide young people, who need help from the more fortunate, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
  1. Boys and Girls of America were formed back in 1860 with three women in Hartford, Connecticut – Mary Goodwin, Alice Goodwin, and Elizabeth Hammersley. They all believed at the time that boys were roaming around the neighborhood should have a better alternative; these women got together and organized their first boys’ club. They focused on character development and capturing boys’ interests by improving young boy’s behavior and increasing their awareness while focusing on some of the goals they can accomplish in life.
  1. At the end of 2018, the Boys and Girls Club of America reported $1 billion in private donations and a total of 2.2 billion in total revenue, with expenses around 1,913 million. A substantial amount of money B&G raises come from private and business donations. They also receive money from the government. Raised revenue comes from club dues, community out-reach, organized events, and donations.
  1. Boys and Girls have nine lobbyists that support their mission and initiatives. According to research, Boys and Girls hired two lobbyist groups American Continental Group and Alston and Bird. They also utilize internal company lobbyists for funding. American Continental and Alston and Bird received approximately $540,000 in payments. Lobbyists were successful with several issues for Boys and Girls, ranging from education, health, agriculture, taxes, and drug & alcohol.
  1. The government provided boys and girls with over 28 million dollars in 2018. Lobbyists were responsible for these funds.

RESPONSE ONE;

Green Party

Amber Fields and Paige Fritts

The Green Party of the United States is the fourth-largest political party in the United States. According to its website, the Green Party is “an independent political party that is connected to American social movements, and is part of a global Green movement that shares key values, including our Four Pillars: Peace and Non-Violence, Ecological Wisdom, Grassroots Democracy, and Social Justice”. It is said that political parties began to form during the struggle over ratification of the federal Constitution of 1787. Friction between them increased as attention shifted from the creation of a new federal government to the question of how powerful that the federal government would be.

The Green Party was formed in Minnesota in 1984 but Alaska was the first state to put the GP on a ballot.After years of gaining momentum, in 2001 the group was officially recognized as a national political party and they are now located in Washington D.C.Unlike other national political parties, the Green Party does not elect a single party chairman. The Green Party Steering Committee, which is made up of seven party co-chairs, a treasurer, and a secretary, functions as the governing body of the party.In the 2016 presidential election, Jill Stein was the GP candidate but her numbers didn’t fair well.She polled about two percent of the votes but her goal was to get at least five percent to unlock automatic ballot access in many states and to get additional campaign funding worth up to $10 million.With the upcoming election the GP is rallying with the Democratic Party to fight Trump on issues of social and environmental injustice.

RESPONSE TWO;

Tea Party

By Jenkins, Hansel, Morgan

The original Tea Party relates to the Boston Tea Party. A protest in 1773 by colonists who objected to British taxation without representation and demonstrated by dumping British tea taken from docked ships into the harbor.

The Tea party may not actually be a full-fledged political party. The Tea party was formed in 2009. A number of groups claimed to represent the Tea party, although most of its members are from the republican party. As well, most Tea Party gatherings were provided support from within the republican party itself. The tea party is more of a fiscally motivated movement by conservative republicans

A group becomes a party when a group of people organizes to acquire political power. Political parties originated the US in the 19th century, along with the electoral system whose development reflects the evolution of parties. Today the term party applies to all organized groups seeking political power by democratic elections.

The Tea Party movement, social and political movement that emerged in 2009, generally oppose excessive taxation and government intervention in the private sector while supporting more robust immigration control.

Tea Party groups are backing conservative challengers to both Republican and Democratic members of Congress. Most of the Tea Party contenders do not always win. Nevertheless, they could still become a big problem for the GOP.

The Tea Party will force Republicans into a deep battle to prove who can hew closest to Trump’s political vision.
