1. Susie has an intellectual disability. She is placed in a self-contained class, but she has been participating in some general education classes. Susies 4th grade general education teacher has required her to participate in spelling tests. Susie received a failing grade for the past 4 spelling tests. The teacher has decided to reduce the number of spelling words on Susies list. She is only responsible for the single syllable words on the spelling list each week.

2. Marco is a 3rd grade student who does not receive special education or Section 504 services. In his math class, Marco often makes mistakes when adding or subtracting large numbers. When Marco uses a calculator, he arrives at the correct answer.

3. Bobby has a learning disability in reading. He is overwhelmed by long reading passages, because he cannot read on grade level. Bobby needs to learn about main idea and supporting details. The teacher provides Bobby a story on his reading level. Bobby only has to identify the main idea while the rest of the class must identify the main idea and supporting details.

4. Jacob is a 5th grade student who receives special education services under the category of Other Health Impairment. When reading, Jacob continuously blinks and moves his head, skips lines, omits or transposes words, and loses his place often, even when using a place marker. He sits at the teachers computer so he can follow along during PowerPoint presentations.

For the next part of this assignment, you have two students with ADHD. Read the scenario and decide what accommodations you would provide to these students to help them be successful in your class? **Note we are not changing the content so we are not providing modifications!
Andrew is ten years old and is in the 5th grade. He has been diagnosed as having ADHD and has been taking Ritalin for the last eight months. He is in your math class but you have him in your homeroom. In class you notice that Andrew often goes off-task very quickly and does not finish the work which has been assigned. He can make careless mistakes and appears not to be listening when you are giving instructions. When you ask him to complete any activity that lasts longer than five minutes, he becomes distracted and will often then distract the other students around him. As a result of his lack of attention he rarely remembers the right books for your class and seldom completes his homework. His school bag and assignment book are a mess.

Torian is a 1st grader diagnosed with ADHD. When he does not take his medications, he is nearly uncontrollable in the classroom. He talks non-stop, constantly is in and out of his seat, and tries to start arguments with other students. He has difficulties starting his assignments. His classroom assignments are rushed, sloppy, and often incorrect. Torian has over 25 office referrals for disruptive behavior in the classroom. You also notice that Torian loves to draw and always asks you to let him look at pictures of cars, tractors, and other motorized vehicles.
