Ethical Conduct Model Assignment
Part 1
In a 1 and half page with APA formatting. As our readings have suggested, communities have certain expectations and perceptions involving the law enforcement profession. Standards of ethical conduct dictate the requirements to which a professional is expected to practice and behave. Read the links in your required reading titled, Minnesota Standards of Ethical Conduct – Model Policies 3, 4, and 11.
Initial Post: Give a brief summary of these three model policies. Provide an explanation on how these standards specifically apply to law enforcement duties. In your response, include any thoughts on what might be considered unreasonable or outdated. How would you adjust the policy to make it more current with policing issues today? Do you believe that these model policies apply only to on-duty officers or, do they apply when an officer is off-duty as well? Explain your thoughts.
In your initial post, you will be required to cite a minimum of one professional source of information.
Response Post: When responding to other students, consider their thoughts on the reasonableness or unreasonableness of these standards. How do their thoughts align with yours? Do you feel that the expectations put on officers today is too high, not high enough, or reasonable? Provide some insight as to what might be the consequences for violating any of these standards of conduct?

Policing the Police
In a 2 page paper research and discuss the following:
Based on the video Policing the Police (found earlier in this module), what might be some of the expectations, assumptions, and perceptions society has of the law enforcement profession?
The Newark Police Department is one of several police departments that have been targeted by the Department of Justice as a department in need of “police reform”. What is meant by “police reform” and what are some possible solutions to the issues that are being presented in the video?
Could creating Model Policies help with the reform of law enforcement agencies being targeted for unjust and unfair practices? Why or why not?
What strategies can be used to enhance relationships and build trust between diverse populations and law enforcement professionals?
Your essay should incorporate a minimum of one scholarly resource from the Rasmussen online library or credible internet source, such as a government website or professional organization.
