Essay question: Given the variety of scholarly approaches to magic, and its uncertain relationship to science and religion, do you think magic is still a useful category for historians? Why or why not? If not, what term(s) should we use in place of magic? If so, how do we avoid the problems with the category that weve discussed in class?
How to structure the essay: The essay should also consider a counter–argument, and refute it. Then, conclude the essay by considering the significance of the argument (i.e., why does your view matter?)
Sources: From academic readings attacked/ provided. Cite the sources properly (i.e., Author, source, page number in in–text citations or endnotes). Note, if in-text ia choosen then the word count it takes up does not count toards the 3 full-pages total count.
ALSO: Draw upon the historical sources (Plato, Pseudo–Plato, Pliny, Augustine, etc.) Whhich ever seems easier to write the essay (Sources attached). For this one look @ attachment 1-53-2, Title starts with General Instructions, scroll down where iit says Plato (the rest follow).
