You are working as a medical administrative assistant at one of the largest healthcare organizations in your state. The Human Resources department asks you to help out with their upcoming career fair. Your task is to help identify the various roles that medical administrative assistants have within your organization and help attract interest for the position.

While you are familiar with your day-to-day tasks, you know that other medical administrative assistants in other departments and other facilities have many different responsibilities. You will need to research other roles to find the information needed for the career fair.


First, Research at least three different medical administrative assistant careers. You may want to search job postings, interview people you know who work in healthcare, or use your textbook/library materials for your research.

Then, create a handout that can be distributed at the career fair. Your handout may be in the form of a flyer or pamphlet. It must include the following:

  • General overview of a medical administrative assistant’s duties
  • A list of common tasks for medical administrative assistants
  • At least three different job titles a medical administrative assistant may hold
  • Description of how the responsibilities of a medical administrative assistant may differ among various settings, such as departments, facilities, or employers
  • Professional and easy-to-ready formatting
  • Eye-catching appearance
  • Interesting information to attract interest from readers
  • Use of professional images/graphics

Assessment Requirements/Submission Requirement:

Complete your handout using Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher. Format your document in a professional and easy-to-read manner. Your handout should be eye-catching and include information that would attract interest from readers. Use of professional images/graphics is encouraged.
