Ignoring the social media text at the top, I am sharing this for the "dashboard" style graphic that depicts proportion of time in U.S. History that was characterized by slavery versus segregation. The graphic uses color very effectively to denote meaning. Also note the use of large versus small vertical lines as time markers.
At first I was not sure whether the distance of each increment 100 years was shown in consistent sizes (section on right seemed larger to my eye), but I measured and it is depicted proportionally. Shows how color may impact perception.
Had the centuries not been depicted in proportion, the graphic would be biased and lose all credibility. Also adding to meaning is the use of sub-headings "246 years" and "89 years."
