The “battle royal”story by Ralph ellison

The “battle royal”story by Ralph ellisonAt the end of the beginning paragraph in “Battle Royal,” our narrator calls himself an invisible man.  Take some time to consider what he means by this comment and focus on one or two specific moments from the story that especially stand out to you.  Have you ever felt invisible?  If yes, describe the situation.  If not, describe what it would feel like have no one ever notice you?  Is there any connection between Ellison’s story and Dunbar’s poem?

After uploading your own discussion, read your classmates posts and respond to at least one peer’s analysis of either text: how do you view the story, poem, scene, or character discussed, for example in a similar or different way?  What might you add to your classmates points to support or politely challenge something written?
