INTRODUCTION (10 pts)

Introduce and summarize The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas in about 3 sentences. Then, in about two more sentences, explain how you believe the story can be applied to concepts about media and society, the Digital Age, and/or societal power structures (your textbook readings will be a very useful resource).

  • Then, in your thesis statement (last sentence of first paragraph) state specifically how you will be approaching your analysis using 3-4 concepts from course content. (Be specific, dont just say, And now I will use 3-4 key concepts from course content to talk about the story.)
  • Introduction should be about 6 sentences (7 maximum); about 1/3 page

The body should flow from the thesis, showing reflection and depth of thought and application of course content in relation to the story. There are to right or wrong interpretations. The key is to think about your world, to reflect, and to apply what you have learned and read about. (For example, if you feel the story is allegorical, explain the allegory in relation to concepts covered or read.)

Be discriminating in the concepts you apply. Do NOT just provide a bunch of scattered concepts. Choose 3 or 4 and explore in detail (about a paragraph a piece). Again, think and

reflect. The body should be taking the reader on a journey of sorts, and contain the evidence that supports your thesis statement.

Body should be about a page and a half, 3-4 paragraphs
