Please read the following article about the controversial death of a young lady in Connecticut, Lauren Smith-Fields. Please respond in a well-written analysis (1-2 pages) on the following questions:

1. Do you believe that the police engaged in victim-blaming towards Lauren and that this hampered the investigation, or do you think that this criticism is premature? Why or why not?
2. Please explain Victim Precipitation Theory and Lifestyle Theory and then please relate them both to this case. In other words, please explain how criminologists would attempt to understand Lauren’s level of risk and the dynamics behind the crime, if in fact her date was responsible in some way for her death.
3. Please offer your thoughts on victimology as a part of criminology overall. How can we as criminologists ask the hard questions about all aspects of the crime without shaming or blaming its victim? Is this possible in all cases?
