Read the article related to toxic masculinity provided in the lesson folder. Watch the Gillette short film "We Believe: The Best A Man Can Be" (found in the Optional Additional Resources folder in this lesson). Address the following:
- Define in your own words what toxic masculinity is. Explain how it is different from more generic definitions of masculinity. (NOTE: toxic masculinity and masculinity are NOT the same things).
- Explain a time that you have witnessed toxic masculinity. This may be in your own life or from television, film, commercials, social media, etc.
- After reading Chapter 6, what suggestions or tactics could be used to address toxic masculinity? Use specific examples.
- What might toxic femininity look like? How might lessons from Chapter 6 help us address that?
